The Weight of Anxiety

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most memorable years for our community, our nation, and our world.  This year has been fertile soil where doubt, fear, and anxiety can take root, stealing our schedules, routines, peace, and, most of all, the joy we find in Christ.  This month, I want to share a chapter from Gospel Shaped Emotions, a book the Lord allowed me to write last year.  I pray you will find solace and peace as you shed the weight of anxiety as it is replaced with the comfort only Christ can give.

Fear of God and Fear of Man

The Apostle, Paul, asks a probing question in Galatians. One relevant to our day and age that requires serious consideration and an honest answer. “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10). It is a simple and relatively straightforward question; however, finding the balance between pleasing man and God can be challenging.

Navigating Disagreements with Grace and Love

Today we live in a world where there is an ever-increasing abundance of people, places, and things to be upset over. This world offers an endless supply of ideas, worldviews, and opinions, which can lead to alienation, tribalism, and just plain ugliness between people and their expressed beliefs. With an increased capacity to communicate quickly and often without regard to caution and wisdom, we can intentionally or unintentionally set off a firestorm of emotions with a tweet, a post, or a seemingly harmless conversation gone wrong over coffee.
